Harper's Boudoir: Nursery Menagerie

With a little more than a month to go before her "official" arrival, we finally put the finishing touches on our daughters nursery. It turned out to be exactly what we envisioned, and hopefully will serve as a calm, soothing, no crying (HAHA!) space for her first years in our home. Today, we wanted to share the space with our friends and family who won't get a chance to see it in person.

When we were registering for our baby shower, we didn't know she was, in fact, a she; so we wanted to keep the bedding, and accessories gender neutral. I'm glad we didn't find out the gender beforehand because it would've been MUCH harder to pick something gender neutral (aka reusable) after seeing all the beautiful little girl nurseries in the room gallery of RHBaby&Child - but now we can use all the bedding and furniture for future little ones. (If I make it past this one). Our first pieces we chose were the Jameson Crib in Antique Taupe & Heirloom bassinet in Weathered Grey - both of which were given to us by Harper's grandmothers. They served as the base for the color palette, both neutral and tranquil for our little girl.

We kept the bedding simple (and bleach-able) and chose Restoration Hardware's Diamond Matelasse collection. It is heavy and so soft, and made matching the decor easy. The animal theme was also an easy choice for us, since there were so many cute accessories to chose from, the first few being her sweet Sheep Mobile & Jumbo Elephant which were purchased from our registry.

We tied in a few other animal accents with my brothers childhood rocking horse, cast iron owl bookends, books & teddy bears from my own nursery, and farm animal prints from CoCoAndJames

Harper's room is also filled with personal pieces from her grandmothers, including a perfectly matched cream and taupe baby blanket from Scott's mother (mim) , and a wooden pallet sign and custom kites from my mother (nana). We love that she will have these things forever and they were made with so much love!

A few more decorations set apart the space, including a tufted grey ottoman, metallic tree table lamp, and Nicole Miller embroidered pillow. We also had a few precious plush gifts from friends including Pottery Barn bunny mat, Boll & Branch bunny sheet, and The White Company London bath robe with decorative box!

Instead of purchasing a traditional changing table, and because her room was on the small side, we flipped an old chest of drawers my brother and dad salvaged. We took a paint swatch from her crib, matched the paint at Home Depot, and distressed it with a Valspar glaze. A few final monogrammed touches from our friend Vicky Pennington, and her room was complete! Now, we are enjoying the finished product & impatiently waiting for her arrival!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to make her nursery come together. We received so many wonderful gifts throughout the past 9 months and are so thankful for our family and friends who took the time to devote something to our daughter!
